Guerrilla Girls On Tour, a New York City based touring theatre company that creates fresh and original comedies celebrating women’s history – past, present and future – is presenting “Silence is Violence”.
The show addresses the lack of parity for women in global theatre, political issues facing women such as reproductive rights, the war in Iraq, current number of women elected to government, sex trafficking and violence against women….all in a fast paced comedy.
“Silence is Violence” also provides up-to-date statistics and strategies for combating violence against women and dramatizes a series of date rape situations to educate the audience with information on how to set boundaries and avoid potentially dangerous situations. The entire show is both upbeat and empowering.

“Agnes of God”
This modern play by John Pielmeir explores moral and spiritual issues of particular importance for Catholics, and is widely believed to have been inspired by a real incident in upstate New York. When a novice nun in a convent gives birth to a stillborn child, she insists that she had a virgin conception, prompting an investigation by both the mother superior and a psychiatrist. Justine Thompson, a senior at UH-Hilo’s Performing Arts department, is directing the play, in collaboration with fellow student Hillary Low. For more information, email Justine at luvandhate@hotmail.com; or phone EHCC at 961-5711 or email us at arts@ehcc.org.
