DJ Tiesto: “Parade of the Athletes”
By: DJ Roo
Over the last couple of years, one dj has emerged from the pack to claim the status as the world’s best dj title and that dj would be that of Tiesto. DJ Tiesto has traveled the world, putting on concerts on almost every continent in the world and due to these amazing live shows, his reputation and street credential has grown immensely. The “Parade of the Althetes” album, chronicles Tiesto visit to the 2004 Olympics in Greece and his powerful and dynamic live performance at the opening ceremonies of the games.
As tremendous as the honor is, of having the world’s best DJ open the Olympic Games, the album that follows is a little disappointing as far as showcasing the broad range of talent and musical genius that is usually shown by Tiesto. Don’t get me wrong, the CD as a whole is not the bad and includes several of Tiesto’s greatest hits like “Traffic”, “Adagio for Strings”, and “Forever Today” along with a bevy of other new Tiesto songs that are pretty good.
But as a now longtime follower of Tiesto and his whords of internationally released albums, this one is by far not his best. If you are a newcomer to Tiesto’s music, this ablum would not be a good one to start out on. That introductory course would include any albums from the In Search of Sunrise series or Magik series. If you are one of the few longtime listeners of Tiesto’s work, than you may still want to give this album a shot.
There are points in the CD where it flows very nicely for a few songs and then there is odd ball track shoved in the rotation that throws off the fluidity of the album. If you can get over that small annoyance, than you will find this cd is pretty good and will continue to get better the more you listen to it.
Overall: 3.75 out of 5
